Medicare plan help

A calm explanation of the main Medicare choices, and where to get free unbiased help in New Jersey. We do not enroll anyone.

This is not medical or financial advice. Confirm coverage with your plan or your state Medicaid office.

We may earn a commission if you purchase through links on this page. It never changes what you pay.
We do not offer every plan available in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options.

What this page does not do

  • We do not enroll anyone in a plan and we are not a broker.
  • We never collect beneficiary information. No Medicare number, no Social Security number, no health records, no intake forms.
  • We do not rate or rank plans and we do not use star ratings.
  • We only link out to licensed brokers or official state and federal pages.

The four pieces people mix up

Original Medicare, Part A and Part B

Hospital and medical coverage run by the federal government. It does not include most prescription drugs, so many people add a Part D plan.

Medicare Advantage, Part C

A private plan that replaces how your Original Medicare benefits are delivered. Networks, extra benefits, and out of pocket rules differ by plan and by county.

Part D prescription coverage

A separate drug plan, or drug coverage built into an Advantage plan. Each plan covers a different list of drugs, so check your own medications.

Medigap, supplement plans

Sold with Original Medicare to help with cost sharing. Enrollment rules and timing matter, so ask before you switch.

Free official help first

  • Medicare.gov, the official plan finder and coverage rules, or call 1-800-MEDICARE.
  • New Jersey SHIP, the State Health Insurance Assistance Program, offers free counseling from trained volunteers. Confirm current contact details on the official page.

If you want to speak with a licensed broker

A licensed broker can walk through plan options with you. Any link here is outbound only. You would give your information to that company, never to this site.

Compare plans with a licensed broker, link coming soon

Placeholder link. An eHealth style licensed broker link will be added here once it is set up. Health IQ is a program this site may apply to later. Neither is connected today.
