When home care is the better answer
Many families call about assisted living and leave the call with a home care plan instead. If a parent is safe at home most of the day and the gap is bathing, meals, medication reminders, or company for a few hours, an agency at home is often the smaller and cheaper step.
We introduce licensed private-pay New Jersey home care agencies and help you compare what they actually staff. We do not employ aides and we do not run an agency.

What to ask an agency before you sign
- Minimum hours per visit and per week, and the weekend rate.
- Whether aides are employees of the agency and how they are supervised.
- What happens when the regular aide calls out.
- Who writes the care plan, and how often it is reviewed.
- What tasks the aide may not do, such as certain medication handling.
- How billing works, and what notice is needed to reduce or stop hours.
Home care and senior living are not either or
Plenty of families start with a few hours a day at home, watch how it goes for a season, and then tour assisted living when the hours stop being enough. Starting at home does not close any door. To weigh both, compare home care and assisted living.
We can keep both tracks open on the same call so nobody has to start over later.
Paying for home care
Most home care in New Jersey is paid privately by the hour. Long term care insurance may reimburse it, and some veterans benefits and Medicaid waiver programs support in-home help. Medicare pays only for limited skilled visits ordered by a doctor, not for ongoing companion hours.
We do not quote agency rates on this page because they vary by county, shift, and hours committed.

- Do families pay you for the introduction?
- You don't pay. There's no fee. A community may pay us a professional referral fee after a successful private-pay move in. We do not take a fee on Medicaid or Medicare funded placements.
- Does Medicare pay for home care?
- Medicare covers limited skilled home health visits ordered by a doctor after a qualifying event. It does not cover ongoing hourly help with bathing, meals, or companionship.
- How many hours do most families start with?
- It depends entirely on the household. We help you think it through against the real gaps in the day rather than sell a package.
