The honest picture in Hudson County
We will not pad this page. The official New Jersey file lists very few Hudson County rows, and no dedicated memory care line on our Hudson county hub. Jersey City is dense with people and thin on licensed dementia beds.
So most Jersey City families end up touring assisted living inside the county plus memory care a short drive away in Bergen, Essex, or across the river. We do not inflate the local supply and we never invent an opening.
We help with both levels of care
Plenty of Jersey City families are still deciding between assisted living with more supervision and a secured memory care setting. We sit with both options on the table, including the case where the best fit is nearby but outside Hudson County.
If staying local matters more than a secured unit, say so. We will tell you plainly what that trade off looks like.
How we help
- Sit with the family. Care type, county or borough, budget band in your own words, and urgency. No invented numbers from us.
- Shortlist licensed private-pay options that fit what you told us.
- You get the written shortlist. You visit when ready, and we can come along if you ask.
- Follow through after your visits. Move in is between your family and the community.
Honest cost
According to CareScout's 2025 Cost of Care Survey (PDF 282102), the New Jersey median monthly cost for assisted living was $8,710. The national assisted living median in that survey was $6,200. Your parent's quote from any community can be higher or lower based on location, apartment type, and care level. We do not invent a price for any named community.
There is no official memory care median, so we do not publish one. Ask each community for a written quote.
What to ask on a memory care tour
- Night staffing in the memory care neighborhood. Who is awake, how many, and what happens at 3 a.m.
- Wandering and exit protocol. How doors, elevators, and outdoor space are handled.
- Activities built for dementia, not a general activity calendar.
- How medications are handled, and who administers them.
- What the base monthly fee does not cover. Care levels, incontinence supplies, transportation.
- How the team communicates with family after a fall, a refusal, or a hard night.
- What happens if care needs change, and when a move to another setting is required.
Immediate need or planning ahead
Immediate need means a hospital or rehab discharge this week, wandering, night safety worries, or a caregiver at the end of the rope. Call (201) 686-8232.
Planning ahead means the next 30 to 90 days. Use the form and mark Planning ahead, and we work at a calmer pace.
Communities and agencies
If you run admissions, business development, or a licensed home care office, we would like to know your setup. Call (201) 686-8232 or use the partner page. We do not publish your rates and we do not promise census.
Hudson County: what the official New Jersey list shows
The New Jersey license file lists 29 senior care settings in Hudson County: 1 assisted living setting, 1 personal care home, 11 adult day centers and 16 nursing homes. They are spread across 9 towns.
The towns with the most licensed listings are Jersey City (10), North Bergen (5), Union City (4), Bayonne (3), Kearny (2), Secaucus (2).
For memory care, start with the dementia care listings, then ask the larger assisted living residences whether they run a secured memory floor. The state file does not always list those floors separately.

Frequently asked questions
- Do families pay you?
- You don't pay. There's no fee. A community may pay us a professional referral fee after a successful private-pay move in. We do not take a fee on Medicaid or Medicare funded placements.
- Is there memory care in Jersey City?
- The official state file shows very little dedicated memory care in Hudson County. Some assisted living residences run a secured unit under their own licence, which is worth asking about, and many families tour nearby Bergen or Essex options as well.
- Can you help if we stay with assisted living instead?
- Yes. We help Jersey City families with both assisted living and memory care decisions.
