A note from the founder
Hi, I'm Hector De La Cruz.
I started Sit With Us Parents because choosing care for a parent should not begin with a sales pitch or a wall of listings. It should begin with a conversation. We listen first, explain home care, assisted living, and memory care in plain words, and then send you the licensed options that fit your family's needs, in writing. You decide, at your own pace. There is no fee to families.
Which kind of care fits right now?
A few quick questions give your family a starting place. This is not a diagnosis or eligibility decision.
Step 1 of 17
Who needs care?
Why we ask: It tells us who we should be talking with.
How it works
We sit with you first, then you pick the home. We shortlist licensed communities from the official state lists. We are a family resource, not a hospital and not a brokerage.
- 1
Sit at the table. County + what you need. We only contact you the way you choose.
- 2
You get two written options from the official list.
- 3
You get a shortlist. You visit when ready. We can come along if that helps.

- 4
You decide. You don't pay. There's no fee.

In Bergen County? Bergen County placement help. Or start with the state overviews: senior living in New Jersey and senior living in New York.
New Jersey names come from NJ DOH All_LTC.xlsx dated August 21, 2026.
New York names come from the NYS DOH Adult Care Facility Directory (health.data.ny.gov dataset wssx-idhx).
We do not publish a live inventory. Request a shortlist and we check current openings with you.

Plain language pages on how families pay, what to ask when you visit, and how Medicare and Medicaid fit in.

Some links and listings may be paid. We may earn a fee. You still choose.
This site is not medical or financial advice. Confirm coverage with the plan or the state Medicaid office. Facility fees are set by the community.
Thinking about another state? We help with that too.
Many families look at Florida, the Carolinas, Arizona, Texas, Pennsylvania, or Delaware to be closer to a sibling. Read what changes with cost, Medicaid, and records before you move a parent across state lines.

We can introduce New Jersey and New York realtors who handle showings. We do not list or show homes. For New Jersey homes, we can also introduce a contractor for renovations or ready-to-sell work.
