Using a policy your family already has

Long term care insurance benefit help

If a parent holds a policy, the question is how to actually get it paying.

You don't pay. There's no fee.

Families hold policies they never learn to use

A parent bought long term care coverage twenty years ago, the paperwork is in a drawer, and nobody knows what triggers it. Meanwhile the family is paying privately for care the policy might cover.

We help you read the policy for the parts that matter, then refer you to partners who handle claims work. We do not sell insurance, we are not your insurer, and we do not adjudicate claims.

You don't pay. There's no fee. Book a free call with us, or call (201) 686-8232 if the need is today.

The six things to find in the policy

  • Daily or monthly benefit amount, and whether it has an inflation rider.
  • Benefit period or lifetime maximum, which sets how long it can pay.
  • Elimination period, the days of care a family pays before benefits start.
  • Benefit trigger, usually a number of activities of daily living or cognitive impairment.
  • Which settings qualify, since some older policies exclude assisted living or home care.
  • Whether the insurer requires licensed providers or its own assessment.

How a claim usually starts

  • Call the insurer's claims line and request the claim packet.
  • Get the physician statement and the care needs assessment they require.
  • Document daily help needed with specifics, not general descriptions.
  • Confirm in writing that the chosen community or agency meets the policy definition.
  • Track the elimination period, and keep every invoice from day one.

Why we bring it up during placement

The policy changes which communities are realistic. A family with benefits paying part of the monthly cost can often look at options they had crossed off. So we ask about coverage on the first call, before the shortlist.

We do not quote fees or percentages for claims assistance, and we do not promise any policy will approve a claim.

Tell us about the policy

Please do not type Social Security numbers, Medicare numbers, bank details, or medication lists.

What does your parent need help with? Check all that apply.
We never pass your details to a community or partner without asking you first and naming who receives them. We only contact you the way you choose. You don't pay. There's no fee.

How we handle your information

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell long term care insurance?
No. We do not sell or underwrite insurance. We help families understand a policy they already hold and refer them to partners for claims work.
What does it cost to get claims help?
That is between your family and the specialist you choose. We do not publish a fee or a percentage for anyone else's service.
Will the policy cover memory care?
It depends on the policy language and the community's license. Some older policies are narrower than families expect, which is why the wording matters.
