Memory care in New Jersey

Memory care in New Jersey is for someone whose dementia or Alzheimer's needs more structure than standard assisted living. Sit with us first. Then pick the home.

You don't pay. There's no fee.

What memory care is, in plain words

It means secure floors, trained staff, and routines that reduce confusion.

We sit with your family first, then send private-pay New Jersey options in writing. You decide. We do not operate a community and we do not diagnose anyone.

For an immediate need, call (201) 686-8232.

How we help

Our memory care placement help runs in four steps.

  • Sit with the family. Care type, county or borough, budget band in your own words, and urgency. No invented numbers from us.
  • Shortlist licensed private-pay options that fit what you told us.
  • You get the written shortlist. You visit when ready, and we can come along if you ask.
  • Follow through after your visits. Move in is between your family and the community.

Memory care by county

Each county page lists the licensed names, addresses, and license numbers from the official state file: Atlantic, Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Salem, Somerset, Sussex, Union, Warren.

Immediate need or planning ahead

Immediate need means a hospital or rehab discharge this week, wandering, night safety worries, or a caregiver at the end of the rope. Call (201) 686-8232.

Planning ahead means the next 30 to 90 days. Use the form and mark Planning ahead, and we work at a calmer pace.

New Jersey counties and towns families ask about

Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Passaic, Morris, and Union. Towns that come up often include Fort Lee, Paramus, Hackensack, Englewood, Teaneck, Jersey City, Montclair, and Morristown.

We do not publish facility counts or live inventory on this page. Request a shortlist and we go community by community with you.

What to ask on a memory care tour

  • Night staffing. Who is awake, how many, and what happens at 3 a.m.
  • Wandering and exit protocol, if that is a worry.
  • Medication support and who administers it.
  • What is not in the monthly fee. Care levels, incontinence supplies, transportation.
  • Family visits, meals with your parent, and holidays.
  • Trial stay or respite, if the community offers one.

Cost honesty

Communities set their own memory care rates. There is no official statewide memory care median that we will publish, and we will not reuse assisted living survey numbers as if they were memory care.

Ask each community for a current quote. On a call we help you compare what is included.

Communities and agencies

If you run admissions, business development, or a licensed home care office, we would like to know your setup. Call (201) 686-8232 or use the partner page. We do not publish your rates and we do not promise census.

How we handle your information

Frequently asked questions

What is memory care?
A specialized setting for people living with dementia or Alzheimer's who need a secure environment, trained staff, and structured days. It is not a diagnosis from us.
How is memory care different from assisted living?
Assisted living supports daily activities while keeping more independence. Memory care adds dementia-capable staffing, security, and programming.
How does placement work?
Sit with us first. Then pick the home. We send a written shortlist, support visits if asked, and follow through. We do not operate the community.
How fast can we tour?
Often within days when the family is ready and communities have openings. We do not promise a move-in date.
Do families pay you?
You don't pay. There's no fee. A community may pay us a professional referral fee after a successful private-pay move in. We do not take a fee on Medicaid or Medicare funded placements.
