Home care for observant families

Kosher home care in New Jersey and New York

Kosher home care means an aide who keeps your parent's kitchen and routines the way your family does, every day and every Shabbat.

You don't pay. There's no fee.

What families ask for

  • An aide who knows separate meat and dairy dishes, sinks and utensils, and checks for a hechsher on packaged food.
  • Shabbat and Yom Tov routines: preparing food before Shabbat, no cooking or electronics where the family observes, and help getting to shul if needed.
  • Live-in or long shifts that cover Shabbat, so family can rest.
  • Aides who speak Yiddish, Hebrew or Russian when that is what your parent speaks.
  • Respect for modesty preferences, including a same-gender aide.

How we help

We sit with you first and write down exactly how your parent's home runs. Then we ask licensed private-pay agencies for aides with that experience, and you meet them before care starts. You don't pay. There's no fee.

We introduce agencies; we do not employ aides or certify kashrut. Your family and rabbi remain the authority on how the kitchen is kept.

Frequently asked questions

Can the aide cook for my parent?
Yes, if the agency's aide is experienced with a kosher kitchen and your family explains the rules. Many families start by having the aide prepare food together with a family member the first week.
Who covers Shabbat?
Ask for a live-in aide or a long Friday to Saturday night shift. We ask agencies how they cover Shabbat and holidays before you choose.
Do families pay you?
You don't pay. There's no fee. A licensed agency may pay us a referral fee after a successful private-pay start of care. We do not take a fee on Medicaid funded care.
